A pretty good game. Dad went with me. We got there a
little late, missed the kickoff, but were in our seats by the third minute. FC Dallas controlled most of the first half posession, but Colorado had a couple of counterattacks that were scary. Mostly, though, the FC Dallas defense held firm. Offensively, we had a lot of the ball and generated a lot of opportunities, but were unable to find the back of the net. Until the 32nd minute when some nifty work by Carlos Ruiz got Kenny Cooper the ball in an almost one on one with the Colorado keeper. Cooper put it away and Dallas took the lead.
I called Olivia, who was bowling in Arkansas to let her know that her favorite current p
layer had just scored and she was excited. The rest of the half played out with few scares. During halftime, we went up for hot dogs, ate them and came back down with some Kettle Corn. The second half saw a lot of Colorado posession and a couple more great plays by Dario Sala (right), our keeper. If I have not said it before, I will say it now, he has to be our first half MVP. He really saves us. Bobby Rhine (left) also played well all game. No second half scores. Fc Dallas wins again. Next up, DC United in a big showdown on July 4th.

Just for the record - I had a brat and Brian a foot long with nachos. And Rhine (the one to whom he extended kudos here) was noticed because I made it my goal in life to call attention to each of his touches, tackles, and toe taps after the expert with whom I was sitting declared Rhine to be a "not very good" player. Evidence proved the contrary.

According to our good friends at wiki, Carlos "El Pescadito" Ruiz is Guatemala's best player and FC Dallas took him when they could have had Landon Donovan.
Kenny Cooper is a 22-year-old who was born in Baltimore and has an English "heritage" (parents?).
Dario Sala is from Cordoba, Argentina (the 2nd largest city) and he grew up in a working class family that sold churros outside football stadia. He attended the Argentine version of West Point. He is one of only three players for FC Dallas who are older than Brian.
Bobby Rhine is from St. Louis and played for the U. Conn Huskies in college.
